It was a first for the Campus Library: for the first time, a FUturist project was combined with an ABV module from the "Sustainable Development" competency area. Under the motto "Make the campus greener!", students spent the 2026 summer semester transforming the underused library terrace into a green, biodiverse space – planting, building, sowing, and painting along the way. Topics such as shading, greening, growing wild perennials, and reuse were put into practice rather than just discussed.

The project follows the concept of the green library, which centers on participation, resource conservation, biodiversity, and public value. Student feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and at this year's Sustainability Days, many attendees already asked whether the module would run again.

In late September, the project will be presented to international guests: at the "Sustainability in Higher Education" conference, attendees can learn more about the funded FUturist projects at the midterm event – with the library terrace just a short walk away.
