FURIOS, the independent student-run campus magazine of Freie Universität Berlin published since 2008, dedicated a feature to the sustainability initiative SUSTAIN IT! in its latest issue. Under the title "Hoffnung säen" ("Sowing Hope"), Sophie von Ploetz spoke with Karola Braun-Wanke about the origins of the initiative, which she co-founded 16 years ago together with 25 students.

In the interview, Braun-Wanke describes how a student initiative grew into a diverse network of projects, including community gardens, the Foodsharing Fairteiler, and the annual Sustainability Days. She also shares her vision for a greener university more connected to the wider city 20 years from now, reflects on the role of community in countering isolation on campus, and highlights projects such as the "ART TO STAY" art installation and the upcycling of glass bottles into vases and glassware.
