Vote, Volunteer, Shape Tomorrow: The New NUN Newsletter Is Here

The Coordination Office for Nature, Environmental and Sustainability Education (NUN) Steglitz-Zehlendorf has published its quarterly newsletter for summer/fall 2026.

News from Aug 25, 2026

This issue centers on the upcoming elections for the Berlin House of Representatives and the district assembly on September 20. Together with its district NUN education advisory board, the Coordination Office developed a set of election questionnaires addressing key challenges in NUN education – including reliable structures, out-of-school learning sites, protection of urban nature, climate adaptation, and participation. The responding parties' answers are now available on the Coordination Office's website.

Civic engagement in the district also takes center stage: on August 28, the Hermann-Ehlers-Platz will host the first-ever Festival of Initiatives, where numerous volunteer groups working on biodiversity, climate protection, air quality, and community life in the neighborhood will present themselves.

The newsletter also covers the newly constituted Steglitz-Zehlendorf Climate Advisory Board, the district's updated heat action plan, and its continued status as a Fair Trade district – along with further events, dates, and news from the local NUN education landscape.
