Bystander- and Multiplicator Training for Student Initiatives
How can we create more inclusive student communities? And what can we do when we witness discrimination?
The Bystander and Multiplicator Training, organised as part of the Diversity-Fonds 2026 at Freie Universität Berlin, offers students practical strategies for recognising and addressing discrimination in their own communities. Participants will learn how to respond to discriminatory situations, support those affected, and share their knowledge with others.
Who is the training for?The training is aimed at both FU Berlin students currently involved in student initiatives and those who would like to be part of one in the future. Student initiatives include groups and organisations, both at FU Berlin and beyond. This includes, for example, members of student councils (Fachschaftsinitiativen), student cafés, mentoring programmes, and other student-run initiatives. Students in both voluntary and leadership roles are welcome. No prior experience in anti-discrimination work is required. We welcome all FU Berlin students who want to strengthen their ability to recognise and address discrimination and contribute to more inclusive student communities.

22 October 2026 | 14:00–20:00 | In person: Expert-led Bystander Training covering key concepts, recognising discrimination and practical strategies for responding to discriminatory situations.
About the Trainer: Nevena Radosavljević is an experienced trainer and educator working in the fields of human rights, peacebuilding, conflict transformation, nonviolence and dialogue. For more than ten years, she has worked with diverse communities and collaborated with a wide range of international organisations, universities and institutions, including the Council of Europe, European Parliament, EU-Council of Europe Youth Partnership, Pro Peace (Forum ZFD), OSCE, Peaceful Change Initiative, European Centre for Minority Issues, Pestalozzi Children Foundation, Belgrade Centre for Security Studies, University of Klagenfurt and Youth Initiative for Human Rights. She has also contributed to projects funded by the European Commission, USAID and the United Nations.
Nevena is a proud member and trainer of the Youth Peace Ambassadors Network (YPAN), where she has also served as a board member and Independent Chair. Her work is guided by a strong commitment to human rights, inclusion and nonviolence, with a particular interest in creating educational spaces where people can address discrimination, challenge prejudice and engage in meaningful dialogue. She holds a Master's degree in Peace and Security Studies and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. at the University of Bonn, researching grassroots peacebuilding and reconciliation."

23 October 2026 | 16:00–18:00 | Online: Dissemination and implementation phase, with participants developing concrete steps to apply and share their learning within their own initiatives.
The project will also produce a bilingual handbook (German and English) to support student initiatives in putting these approaches into practice.
