Climate-Friendly Mobility and Sustainable Organization

• Electric delivery van for media logistics – Book returns from other Freie Universität libraries are picked up and distributed daily using an electric delivery van.
• Cargo bike for events – Materials for campus events are transported in a climate-friendly manner using a cargo bike.
• Business travel via public transit and rail whenever possible – Priority is given to environmentally friendly modes of transportation for business travel.
• In-house events on “Digital Cleanup” – Raising awareness of digital sustainability and reducing digital waste.

Biodiversity, Environmental Education, and Campus Engagement

• Engagement on the grounds of the “Blühender Campus” – Library staff participate in initiatives such as the FreiRaum Week or after-work volunteer sessions.
• Helping to design climate gardens – Collaboration with ABV courses and classes on sustainability.
• Biodiversity right outside the library – Participation in the “Gary Experiment” research plot to promote biological diversity.
• Planting trees: Project funding and implementation of the 1st “FU Mini-Forest” on the Dahlem campus. 
• FaMI trainees in the FU Climate Forest – Participation in planting campaigns and sharing knowledge, such as how research data is generated.
• Regular trash collection campaigns – Joint initiatives with “Sustain it!” to promote cleanliness and environmental education on campus.
• Nature-oriented library gardens – Green spaces as learning, recreational, and living environments for people and nature.
• Participation in the “Living Lab – Multispecies Campus 2025” – Contributing to the module “Promoting Acceptance and Visibility of Biodiversity.”
