Health, Exercise, and a Sustainable Workday

  • Cycling to work – Many library employees commute by bike every day, contributing to a climate-friendly commute.
  • Participation in “Stadtradeln – Cycling for a Healthy Climate” – Every year, numerous employees take part in this nationwide campaign for sustainable mobility.
  • Company bike and cargo bike – A company bike at the Campus Library is available to all employees. The “GreenFUBib” sustainability working group uses a cargo bike for events.
  • Cycling and generating electricity – Exercise bikes make it possible to generate green electricity through physical activity.
  • Ergonomic workstations – Standing workstations and ergonomic equipment promote health and well-being in the workplace.
  • University Sports “Break Express” – Library teams regularly take part in short exercise sessions right at their workstations.
  • Health Promotion: Employees can participate in the Continuing Education Center’s extensive program of events focused on health promotion and mental health.
  • Occupational Safety & Health – Supported by the AGUM online tool and annual training sessions for employees.

Relaxation and Well-being in the Libraries

  • Library Zones for Relaxation – All subject-specific libraries feature quiet zones with sofas, floor cushions, reading lounges, and terraces
  • Green reading rooms – Plants create a pleasant learning atmosphere and improve indoor air quality.
Puzzle corners – Puzzle areas in the Campus Library, the Geosciences Library, and the Economics Library offer a chance to take a short break.

  • Parent-child rooms – Rooms are available in several departments and, in some cases, in libraries for anyone visiting the library with a child.

Mental Health and Counseling

  • Coffee Lectures at the Campus Library – In cooperation with the Central Student Counseling Service and the Psychological Counseling Service, short lectures are offered regularly on topics such as:
      • Boosting mental health during your studies
      • Sleeping better – Tips for restful sleep
