In August, a delegation from Peking University’s School of Government visited Freie Universität Berlin to learn about sustainability management and discuss opportunities to deepen cooperation in research and teaching.

Focus on sustainability management and joint initiatives
Led by Prof. Xue Ling, Prof. Sun Tieshan, and Prof. Zhang Hongmou from PKU’s School of Government, the delegation took a close look at how sustainability is strategically anchored and operationally implemented at Freie Universität Berlin. Discussions centered on concrete entry points for expanding collaboration in research and teaching—such as joint seminars, workshops, or research projects in the field of sustainability.
Peking University and Freie Universität Berlin have maintained an intensive partnership since 1981. This cooperation was strengthened by a strategic partnership agreement signed in 2011 and further deepened in 2015 through joint engagement in the University Alliance for Sustainability. This long-standing relationship provides a solid foundation for developing new joint sustainability initiatives. Both sides expressed interest in continuing the dialogue and exploring ways to build on the existing partnership.
