Public Transport

Berlin and the surrounding areas are divided into three fare zones (A, B, C).

• An AB-ticket is valid within the Berlin city limits.
• An ABC-ticket is valid within the entire three fare zone and Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER).
• At the start of your trip, always check if you need to validate your ticket. Please note that a single ticket is valid for two hours. However, round trips and return trips are not permitted.

From Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER)

Take take S-Bahn line S9 direction Spandau to station Warschauer Str. Change to subway line U3 direction Krumme Lanke to Freie Universität (Thielplatz). Travel time is about 80 min. As the airport lies in C-zone you have to buy a 3-zone (ABC) ticket for the trip. A taxi takes about 45 min. outside rush hours.

From Hauptbahnhof (Berlin Central Train Station)

Take S-Bahn S5, S7 or S75 going west to Zoologischer Garten. Change to subway line U9 direction Rathaus Steglitz. Get off at Spichernstrasse. Take the subway line U3 direction Krumme Lanke. Get off at Freie Universität (Thielplatz). The trip takes about 35 min. A taxi takes about 20 min. outside rush hours.
