The foundation has established a new, easier way to process applications for research events and small research projects for up to 10000€. The average funding is 6000 to 8000€. Projects must be carried out in partnership between German and Polish institutions, with the DPWS carrying no more than 70% of the total spending. ´

Since 2018, the foundation has been focusing exclusively on projects concerned with sustainability (i.e. a snowball effect for other sponsors or the development of bigger projects down the line). An institution that has already received funding can only apply for new funding once the previous projects are completely processed. Two institutes of the same university count as separate applicants.
