The high performance and outstanding results achieved in fundamental and applied research from all disciplines at Freie Universität Berlin are widely apparent. This can be seen in the continuous increase in external funds raised by members of the university as well as in the fact that many distinctions and awards are granted to leading scholars and scientists. In addition, the university holds a prominent position in numerous rankings and ratings. New projects and major research alliances alike are approved on a regular basis. At the same time, communicating research findings to the general public is another major priority.
