Information about the semester ticket
The transport ministries of the federal states have reached an agreement. There is a nationwide standardized semester ticket for public transportation for students from the 2024 summer semester on. Information on this can be obtained from the relevant student body on the website of the semester ticket office.
Please note: The Campuscard does not serve as a semester ticket and cannot be used as a valid ticket for transportation. However, it is still necessary to validate the campus card in order to have a valid student ID card for the semester. CURRENT INFORMATION: There is a web-based tool circulating for converting tickets into wallet tickets. This is NOT valid. Only the official digital Germany semester ticket in the S-Bahn Berlin app is recognized as valid.The semester ticket for public transportation is made available to you as a mobile ticket via the S-Bahn Berlin app. In the event of a ticket inspection, the digital semester ticket for public transportation must be presented together with a valid, official photo ID (e.g. identity card).
Please follow the detailed instructions for setting up the mobile phone ticket on the website of the semester ticket office. It is also important to note the information if you register late, as the ticket will only be made available to you after a few days.
The semester ticket will be available from February 18, 2026.

The following persons are not entitled to a semester ticket for public transportation for students and this is not shown in their semester fees in the self-service portal:
- Multiple enrollees if Freie Universität is not the first university.
