Internship as a recent Graduate
We accept applications for Erasmus+ internship funding during the following periods:
February 1 through May 31
August 16 through December 14
Starting April 1, 2026, the application deadline is at least 10 weeks before the start of the internship—we are happy to accept your application earlier.
Application Requirements
Students who wish to complete an internship after graduating may apply for funding through the Graduate Internship program.
The following requirements apply:
• You must still be enrolled at the time of application.
• You must be deregistered from the university before the internship begins and provide us with your deregistration certificate ("Exmatrikulationsbescheinigung").
• You must maintain “deregistered” status throughout the entire internship.
Information in the Application Documents
Please note the following when applying:
• Application Form
On the online application form (under “Planned Internship” → “Internship Period”), indicate that you will be deregistered from the university for the entire duration of the internship.
• Learning Agreement
In the Learning Agreement, check the appropriate box in Table B – Sending Institution under item 3.
• Duration of the Graduate Internship
A graduate internship may only be completed within one year of graduation.
• Duration of Funding
The Erasmus+ quota from the previous degree program is taken into account when determining the possible duration of funding for graduate internships.
Please note that the maximum total duration of Erasmus+ funding is twelve months per academic cycle. If you have already used part of this quota during the previous phase of your studies, this will be counted toward the funding duration of a graduate internship.
• Transition from a Student Internship to a Graduate Internship
Anyone who is already receiving funding for a student internship or has applied for such funding, but who is deregistered from the university before or during the internship, must submit a new application for a graduate internship, taking into account the applicable application deadlines.
In this case, funding for the student internship will be terminated. This may result in the need to repay part or all of the funding already disbursed.
To avoid this, care should be taken to specify the correct type of internship when applying:
• Student internship or
• Graduate internship
What should I pay special attention to when applying?
Be sure to select the correct type of internship when you submit your application. Your status during the internship is crucial:
• Enrolled for the entire duration of the internship → Student internship
• Deregistered from the university for the entire duration of the internship → Graduate internship
Making a change after the fact may require additional effort and could potentially affect your funding.
