The University Library of Freie Universität provides researchers with access to the interviews in Yale University’s renowned “Fortunoff Video Archive for Holocaust Testimonies.”

The University Library of Freie Universität Berlin provides researchers with access to Yale University’s Fortunoff Video Archive for Holocaust Testimonies.

Since 1979, the archive has documented the memories of Holocaust survivors and, with approximately 4,500 interviews, ranks among the most significant collections of videotaped oral history. The testimonies cover, among other things, experiences of persecution, hiding, resistance, concentration and extermination camps, and liberation.

Freie Universität Berlin is one of the few European institutions with access to this collection. Researchers can search for and use the interviews at a specially equipped workstation in the University Library.
