Since fall 2020, a strategic partnership has been in place between the University Library of Freie Universität Berlin and the Library & University Collections (L&UC) at the University of Edinburgh. The collaboration is based on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on September 17, 2020.

The goal of the partnership is to exchange ideas on innovative library services, staff development, and organizational change. The focus is on sharing professional expertise and jointly developing services and work processes.

The collaboration began with virtual meetings during the COVID-19 pandemic and continues through regular exchange formats. A joint team from both institutions was appointed to coordinate the activities.

The University of Edinburgh is one of Scotland’s oldest universities. Its Library & University Collections are responsible for providing extensive library, archive, and collection holdings for research, teaching, and the public.
