Some reference types, such as “Hearing,” are not available in Citavi. These titles are not deleted but are saved as “unknown document type.”
Citavi does not import groups (My Groups) if they are part of a group set. Move the subgroups to the top level to import the groups into your Citavi project.
During the import process, you have the option to map fields. This means you should review in advance what information is contained in the custom fields and/or research notes. Check beforehand whether you should standardize the information in your custom fields. When importing, the following dialog box appears (screenshots of the German-language interface):
In the next step, you can select the fields to which the custom fields should be assigned:
Check all data fields to make sure the transfer was successful.
In EndNote, articles in anthologies or journals are displayed along with all necessary information within a single database record, because the part-whole relationship does not exist as it does in Citavi. In Citavi, this information is divided between the article and the parent work. Records may also be created for, for example, anthologies, and their affiliation must be verified and adjusted if necessary.
Smart Groups from EndNote are imported, but only as static groups, and no longer function as such → One alternative, if necessary, is to save a search query.
