Digital Humanities is an interdisciplinary field of research that makes targeted use of digital technologies and computer-assisted methods within the humanities and cultural studies. This involves analysing, visualising, digitally editing or compiling literary texts, historical data or works of art into databases with the aid of software. The aim is to enable new academic questions to be posed, to evaluate large amounts of data, to reveal connections, and to digitise and open up humanities research in a sustainable manner.

Digital Humanities combine traditional humanities questions with methods from computer science and data science, thereby creating new perspectives, fostering exchange and driving innovation in research.

Through the ‘Ada Lovelace Centre for Digital Humanities (ADA)’, the University Library brings together, networks and promotes activities in the digital humanities.

The ADA is supported by the departments of History and Cultural Studies, Philosophy and Humanities, Mathematics and Computer Science, as well as the University Library.
