Interlibrary Loan
Through the interlibrary loan service, you can request books or copies of articles from other libraries in Berlin, Germany, or abroad – provided they are not available in our collection.
Copies from newspapers are excluded from interlibrary loan.You place your order online via the KOBV portal (Cooperative Library Network Berlin-Brandenburg). A valid library card or a Campus Card from Freie Universität or Charité is required.
Instructions for interlibrary loan:

- Students of Freie Universität and Charité: €1.50 per item or article upon successful delivery
- External users: €1.50 per order placed, also in case of unsuccessful delivery
When submitting the interlibrary loan request, please indicate whether you are willing to cover additional costs (e.g., for extensive copies or international orders) and, if so, up to what amount. The default setting is 8 Euros.
If the specified maximum amount is exceeded, we will notify you in advance. You can then either decline or confirm the order.

The University Library makes most of the Central Library’s holdings available for international interlibrary loan within the EU. Please send us an email at a_fernleihe@ub.fu-berlin.de.
Fees:
- Books: 1–2.5 IFLA vouchers (€8–20) per volume
- Articles: 0.5–1 voucher (€4–8) per article
