October 2026 Meeting of the Open Science Working Group

Oct 13, 2026 | 01:00 PM s.t. - 02:00 PM

Maike Neufend / Georg Fischer (Open Research Office Berlin), Presentation of the position paper on the development of open research in Berlin

As part of the October meeting of the Open Science Working Group, Maike Neufend and Georg Fischer from the Open Research Office Berlin (OROB) will present the position paper published by the Open Research Berlin State Initiative in early July 2026 and provide insights into the process of its development.

Open Research is set to become the standard for the production, dissemination and re-use of knowledge in Berlin: representatives of Berlin’s scientific and cultural heritage institutions agreed on this strategic goal in a position paper published in early July 2026.

The paper was drafted by the Open Research Berlin state initiative. The process was coordinated by the Open Research Office Berlin (OROB). Professional communities and the interested public are being given the opportunity to review the position paper, provide feedback and thus contribute to the process both now and as it progresses. The position paper is available to all interested parties for an open peer review via the link above.

Maike Neufend and Georg Fischer, who led the coordination of the paper, will explain its background and content during the session and open it up for discussion.
