Open Knowledge Maps develops open, visual and AI-powered tools for academic discovery. We begin with an overview of Open Knowledge Maps’ non-profit, community-driven infrastructure. We then turn our attention to Custom Services and, by extension, to usage scenarios within an organisational context. The focus here is on how libraries and research institutions – as well as researchers themselves – can integrate Open Knowledge Maps into their own systems, services and strategic processes. Particular emphasis will be placed on VisConnect, an approach to DORA- and CoARA-compliant research assessment. Finally, we will address the topic of AI in the academic and library sectors. The focus will be on issues of digital sovereignty, transparency and sustainability: what role can open, community-driven infrastructures play in this regard? And what requirements does this entail for libraries and research institutions?
