Workshop: Responsible Research – involving Circularity and Interdisciplinarity from the beginning in the research process

Conference Program: Tuesday, 22 September

Dr. Fatemeh Zabihi (German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment BfR) will be part of the workshop "Responsible Research – involving Circularity and Interdisciplinarity from the beginning in the research process." She will give an input on the topic „Toxicological Screening of Functionalised Lignin Materials (SSbD concept)“ in the first workshop session.

Dr. Fatemeh Zabihi studied Chemistry at the University of Tabriz. In 2018, she completed her PhD at Freie Universität Berlin (FU) focusing on biomedical application of polymeric (nano)particles, and worked as a postdoctoral researcher at FU in collaboration with Charité–Universitätsmedizin Berlin, investigating the interactions of polymeric (nano)particles with human epithelial system.

Since 2023, she is a regulatory scientist at the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment, working in the Department of Product and Chemical Safety in the Unit of Fibre and Nanotoxicology. Her work focuses on human health risk assessment of nanomaterials but also supports regulatory preparedness for advanced materials. Fatemeh is also contributes to international harmonization processes through the OECD Working Party of Manufactured Nanomaterials (WPMN), where in particular she is engaging in activities to support safe and sustainable innovation approaches for advanced (nano)materials.
