Dr. Andrea Sakoparnig is a Project Manager at the German Rectors’ Conference (HRK), where she contributes to the development and implementation of the Audit “Sustainability in Higher Education Institutions” a peer-based reflection and advisory process supporting universities in embedding sustainability within governance, strategy, and organizational structures. As part of the HRK Audit-Team, she has accompanied several pilot HEIs through comprehensive reflection and development processes. Her particular interest lies in how different forms of inquiry, dialogue, and intervention can create opportunities for HEIs to examine their own structures, assumptions, and patterns of decision-making. She is especially interested in how institutions can develop a clearer understanding of the conditions that enable or constrain change and how this understanding can inform future strategic development. In the workshop, she will share insights from the design and pilot implementation of the HRK Audit and discuss how peer-based reflection and dialogue-oriented governance approaches can support HEIs in identifying, activating, and strategically developing their capacities for sustainability-related transformation.
