Riina Koivuranta is the Head of Responsibility & Wellbeing at the University of Helsinki. In her work, she leads the sustainable wellbeing unit, being responsible for the goal-oriented development of the university’s responsibility, sustainability, and wellbeing efforts.

In her work, she emphasises a whole institution approach as well as collaboration on national, transnational, and organisational levels. Previously, she has acted as the vice-chair of the national Finn-Arma Sustainability group, as well as the secretary of the sustainability working group under UNIFI, Universities Finland, a cooperative organisation for Finnish universities. The work done in the Unifi working group has resulted in 12 theses on sustainable development and responsibility, which represent the Finnish universities’ shared ambition and will to drive change that has a global impact.
In addition to her current role, Riina has a background in sustainable food systems, having worked in regional environmental management and in the NGO sector.

She also has a background in coordinating and developing university courses and programmes, including the university of Helsinki's master’s program "Environmental Change and Global Sustainability." Furthermore, she has experience in consulting, having served as the Chair of the Board at Visia, an environmental consultancy.
