Dr. Jorrit Holst (Instut FUture) will be part of the workshop "University Sustainability Governance in Times of Transformation and Vibe Shifts". There, he will speak on the topic „International Perspectives on Whole Institution Approaches towards Sustainability in Higher Education: From Concept to Practice and Impact“ during the second workshop session.
He is also co-host of the workshop "Starting with a New Vibe: Handprint and Nature Positivity for Biodiversity". Prior to the conference, he will provide an online input for workshop participants, focusing on concepts such as "handprint, resilience, and regeneration".
Dr. Jorrit Holst is a sustainability researcher at Freie Universität Berlin. At the intersection of sustainability science, empirical social science, political and educational science, his research examines the systemic integration and practice of sustainability in education and learning. With a methodological focus on indicator development and large-scale assessments, he has recently published on the concept, measurability, and effectiveness of Whole Institution Approaches (WIAs) to sustainability, the policy integration of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in line with SDG 4.7, as well as on cultural shifts and transformation pathways in higher education. As part of the German National Monitoring on ESD led by Prof. Dr. Gerhard de Haan, his work contributes scientific advice to the UNESCO program "ESD for 2030" in Germany. Dr. Jorrit Holst is also a member of the UNECE Expert Group on WIAs, which is tasked with developing a systemic policy framework for WIAs in the UNECE region.
