Prof. Alessandro Chiarucci is Full Professor of Environmental and Applied Botany at the University of Bologna, Italy. His research addresses biodiversity science, macroecology, vegetation ecology, biogeography, and conservation biology, with particular emphasis on understanding biodiversity patterns and supporting evidence-based conservation under global environmental change.

Professor Chiarucci is a Member of Academia Europaea and was recognized as a Distinguished Scientist through the President's International Fellowship Initiative (PIFI) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has coordinated numerous national and international research projects and has provided scientific leadership through roles including Director of the Department of Biological, Geological and Environmental Sciences at the University of Bologna, President of the Italian Botanical Society, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Vegetation Science and Applied Vegetation Science, and Council Member of the International Association for Vegetation Science.

His research has helped shape contemporary biodiversity science and has contributed to the development of evidence-based conservation strategies and environmental policy at the international level.
