Dr. Peretz is a postdoctoral fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Political and Social Science in Göttingen. His interdisciplinary research bridges Jewish history, postcolonial theory, digital religion and contemporary Jewish–Muslim relations in Germany. He is author of Zionism and Cosmopolitanism: Franz Oppenheimer and the Dream of a Jewish Future in Germany and Palestine and co-editor of the European Journal of Cultural Studies SI: Boundary Work in Muslim-Jewish Encounters in Urban Europe. In addition to his academic work, Dr. Peretz is active in community initiatives and networks. He serves as chairperson of the Jewish Center Fraenkelufer Synagogue Association, which promotes the reconstruction of a Jewish community, cultural, and education center on the site of the main sanctuary of the Fraenkelufer Synagogue, destroyed by the Nazis. He is also the founding director of LABA Berlin: A Laboratory for Jewish Culture and Mar’a’yeh: A Space for Creative Muslim–Jewish Exchange.
