The Dahlem Humanities Center offers various programs to support scholars at different stages of their careers. Since 2016, the DHC has been assisting young scholars at Freie Universität Berlin in inviting scholars from abroad as part of the Dahlem Junior Host Program. Professors in the humanites departments at Freie Universität Berlin are supported through the DHC Netzwerke, which aim to stimulate dialogue between scholars in the humanities and to promote long-term collaborative projects at Freie Universität Berlin.

In cooperation with the Benaki Museum (Athens), the Dahlem Humanities Center and the Centrum Modernes Griechenland award the Leigh Fermor House Fellowship for writing residencies in Greece.

In addition, the Dahlem Humanities Center welcomes fellows and serves as a host institution for international postdoctoral researchers who come to Freie Universität Berlin for short or long-term research stays with their own projects and are funded by various support programs, including the American Council of Learned Societies. Until the funding line of the Volkswagen Foundation and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation came to an end, the DHC regularly hosted scholarship holders financed through this line of funding.
