What requirements must be met for me to undertake a teaching mobility at a partner university?
The Erasmus team must have an Inter-Institutional Agreement with the respective partner university in place that includes an agreement on a teaching mobility. Erasmus agreements can only be concluded with partner universities that have a valid ECHE (Erasmus-Charta for Higher Education).
You can find an overview of existing agreements in our partner database.
The minimum duration for a teaching mobility is 2 days, while the maximum duration is 2 months (60 days).
During the stay, at least 8 teaching hours must be completed per full week of the stay. Partial weeks are calculated at 1.6 teaching hours per day. For stays of less than one week, the minimum of 8 teaching hours also applies.
Example 1: 3-day stay – 8 teaching hours
Example 2: 7-day stay – 8 teaching hours
Example 3: 10-day stay – 13 teaching hours (8 teaching hours for the first 7 days, plus 4.8 teaching hours for days 8–10)
Example 4: 14-day stay – 16 teaching hours (as this constitutes two full weeks).
Funding begins on the first day that, according to the agreement, is the first day on which attendance at the host university is mandatory and which is confirmed by the host university. Additional funding may be provided for one travel day before and one travel day after the stay.
Under Erasmus+ teaching mobility, funding is available to individuals who have a contractual relationship with Freie Universität Berlin, including emeritus and retired professors as well as adjunct lecturers. In addition, doctoral candidates who are enrolled at Freie Universität Berlin may also be eligible for funding.
