How much Erasmus+ funding will I receive for my host country?
Your Erasmus+ funding consists of two fixed components: a mobility grant for accommodation and subsistence, and a distance-based travel allowance.
If your actual expenses are lower than the total amount of the funding, you may keep the remaining balance (this may be subject to taxation; if you have any questions, please contact your local tax office). Double funding of the same trip from other EU funds is not permitted.

The mobility grant is calculated on a daily basis for all official programme days confirmed by the host institution. Travel-only days are not normally included in the duration of the stay, unless confirmed activities have already taken place at the destination on those days.
Note: For environmentally friendly travel / Green Travel, additional travel days may be funded upon application.Travel Costs
The amount of the travel allowance is based on the one-way distance between the place of departure and the destination (city to city).
- Calculation basis: The official distance calculated using the European Commission’s distance calculator (straight-line distance) is always used.
- Fixed allowance: Based on this distance, a fixed funding amount is determined that automatically covers both the outbound and return journey, regardless of the actual ticket costs incurred
Sustainable Travel with Green Travel
Environmentally friendly travel pays off twice: If you travel to and from your destination using low-emission means of transport, you receive a significantly higher travel allowance (as well as additional funded travel days upon application).
- Eligible means of transport: Train, long-distance coach, or carpooling (ship and ferry travel are excluded).
- 50% criterion: At least 50% of the total travel distance must be covered using sustainable means of transport.

Additional Travel Days (Individual Support)
Travel days outside the actual programme may be funded through additional daily rates from the mobility grant, in addition to the regular travel allowance.
- Standard travel (max. 2 travel days): Up to two days may be funded for the outbound and return journeys. The outbound journey must take place no later than the day before the programme starts, and the return journey no earlier than the day after the programme ends.
- Green Travel (up to 4 additional travel days): For longer journeys using sustainable means of transport, up to four additional travel days may be approved in addition to the two standard days (a maximum of 6 funded travel days in total). The following guidelines apply:
- 1 travel day per journey: Standard outbound or return journey
- 2 travel days per journey: For a journey time of at least 10 hours, provided that the journey actually takes place over 2 calendar days (e.g. including an overnight stop)
- 3 travel days per journey: For a journey time of at least 20 hours, provided that the journey actually takes place over 3 calendar days
Please submit your timetables or booking confirmations in advance for review.
