The Una Europa Team is delighted to share that Una.Via has been awarded EU funding as a two-year project. For the alliance, this means continuing successful activities while gaining fresh momentum for new shared goals.

The funding period will begin at the end of this year. Over the next two years, Una.Via will focus on making Una Europa more efficient by optimising governance structures and expanding high-impact joint formats. This will create more opportunities for students, researchers, and professional services staff to take part in alliance activities, while also looking ahead to the next generation of funding under the European Commission’s Multiannual Financial Framework from 2028 onwards.

The core elements of the project are:

• Interdisciplinary Hubs: Una.Via builds on the success of the academically led Self-Steering Committees and develops these forms of collaboration into Interdisciplinary Hubs. These cross-university platforms will connect expertise across partner institutions and support joint research, teaching, and outreach activities. Freie Universität Berlin will continue to lead the focus area of Sustainability.
• Strengthening training opportunities: Freie Universität Berlin and the Università di Bologna will bring together and further develop the alliance’s existing skills development programmes under the umbrella of a new Una Europa Training Academy. This academy will provide a framework for designing, delivering, and recognising training opportunities for the Una Europa community.
• Student engagement: To ensure that students play a central role in shaping the future of the alliance, student engagement will be embedded across all areas of the project, and students’ role in co-creation will be strengthened. This will include closer involvement of the Student Board, active participation in the Interdisciplinary Hubs, and virtual exchange and learning formats with fellow students across the alliance.

Through Una.Via, Una Europa is poised to consolidate its achievements, innovate boldly, and lay a clear path towards the next generation of Erasmus+ funding. More broadly, the project will bolster the alliance’s vision of forging a new model for education and research in Europe and beyond, shaping our shared future for the better.
