The Planetary Sciences and Remote Sensing research group at the Institute of Geological Sciences at the FU Berlin participates in various space missions of ESA, NASA and JAXA. In our laboratories, we generate analogue data for space missions such as Europa Clipper.
 
We are looking for a student with enthusiasm for space missions to icy ocean moons, ideally with experience in laboratory work and mass spectrometry. The position is suitable for a Master's thesis.

Job description:
- Supporting the acquisition and evaluation of mass spectra from the laser induced liquid beam ion desorption (LILBID) mass spectrometer.
- Create and maintain a data base from LILBID spectra for the Surface Dust Analyzer (SUDA) on the Europa Clipper space mission.
 
Desirable:
- Good knowledge in the field of Planetary Sciences
- Very good written and spoken English (B2/C1)
- Basic knowledge of mass spectrometry
 
- Experience with data bases is an advantage
- Previous experience with laboratory work is an advantage
- Knowledge in chemistry and/or biochemistry is an advantage
- German language is an advantage but not mandatory
