Job description:
The successful applicant will pursue a global history research project (18th-20th centuries) starting April 1, 2026, collaborate on third-party funding applications for the department, and be involved in the activities of the Friedrich-Meinecke-Institute.
Requirements:
Completed academic degree in History or Development Studies; completed doctoral degree in history or a neighboring discipline about a topic that can be conceived as global history (PhD).
Desirable:
- Thorough knowledge of relevant scholarly debates and approaches in global history, social history and economic history;
- a well-conceived research project in global history;
- teaching experience;
- publications in peer-reviewed journals;
- projects that make broad connections and/or span regions are an asset.
- very good English skills (level C1) and knowledge of the languages relevant to the research project, as well as sufficient German skills (level A2) to participate in department activities or a willingness to acquire them.
